Loss of Farmland

combineWhy is losing 160 acres of highly productive cultivated land so important? Alberta Agriculture Agronomist Ross McKenzie told the Alberta Soil Science Workshop in Lethbridge on Feb 20, 2013 that land suitable for cropping is becoming an increasingly scarce commodity in the province. He says “Society must really get much more serious about protecting our land for future generations”. Chipping away 160 acres makes a difference.
